Day 3 of trying to organize my movies. No end in sight

I took out a bunch of my movies a shelf at a time and started to try to organize or categorize them. I thought I’d get it done in a couple of hours, but nope! I’ve worked on this the past 3 evenings and it seems like there’s truly no end in sight LOL. I set up the space to be a nostalgic trip down memory lane, and never prioritized organizing the movies as I added to the collection. So I’m truly starting from scratch with laying everything out.

Shelves around and under the TV are done, as is the feature section (6 tapes on the wall). I now have all the tapes on the floor plus what’s left in the other shots to organize amongst three different shelving areas. Wish me luck!

Just found some BANGERS at the Goodwill right before closing

Got there shortly before they closed and spotted Spaceballs on their vhs shelf (I’ve been looking for one for months), then I noticed all of the other bangers there. That cassette adapter is motorized and works, first one I’ve seen.

Did I miss any other bangers that I need to go back tomorrow for?

Picked up VCR today, and it's Looks to be Unique.

I'd been looking for a VCR so I can actually play the tapes I've been coming across.

Mitsubishi HS-HD2000U

Digital VHS? Until today I didn't know that existed. In 1998 this sold for $1000 plus, and still commands decent money on eBay today somehow. So, score, I guess.

I've you have any thoughts, or feelings about this unit or the tech please do tell.

The Aftermath

Got the lot for about $80. Thank all of you for your responses and suggestions! I honestly didn’t know you couldn’t do that here. (Mods took down my first post). I didn’t watch a lot of movies growing up but always loved VHS. Now that I’m older, I love watching new (to me) movies on VHS. Thanks again everyone who suggested some nostalgic gems!

Picked this up at a thrift store for $6

Also no mold what so ever I looked, I’m still going to clean them. Oh, I picked up Mr. Nice Guy as well for a .50 cents.

Just noticed the crack. Will it affect anything

I found this tape inside a dvd/vcr combo that I bought at a thrift store a few weeks ago. It plays fine I hear something rattling around inside though. Is there any risk of damaging my vcr or the tape if I continue to use the tape?

"Uncopyable movies. Cannot record" first time encountering this.

Tonight I decided to continue preserving my older and more cherished movies but I ran into this for the first time, the dubbing had started fine but once it got about 30 seconds to a minute in on the CIC video splash screen this popped up.

I'm curious if this is some sort of copy protection, The VCR deciding it wasn't fit to record or an error of sorts.

The previous night I had successfully preserved my 1982 Star Wars Video Rental Library copy and my original home release Rocky.

The VCR model is LG RC689D from 2014

Found a new honey hole.. Do you see any clear must grabs? I got a little tired and may have missed something cool. I grabbed a few things.

New here

Hey everyone! I’m no stranger to VHS, however, I haven’t used it since I was a kid in the 90’s. I’m sure my story is like others- had streaming and got annoyed with the prices rising so I started collecting DVD, Blu Ray, 4K a few years back to build my physical media library up. I’ll be building a media server for those formats. But to stay on topic of this page, I decided to build up a VHS collection for days I want the VHS experience again. I’m beginning with a few Halloween films and might decide to grow it to other genres..we’ll see with time. Here is what I have at the moment…

Sealed Copy of Totem is Now Free!

I had never heard of this movie before but someone posted it in the sub and I had to track down a copy. Found a sealed copy for a very reasonable price and I'm about to sit down and watch it.

FREEBIES!!!!

I was shopping for tapes at the Goodwill, and this super nice lady asked me if I actually watched movies on tape. I told her that I'm an enthusiast and genuinely love the format.

She told me she had a whole collection of movies at home and said I could have them... this is the first batch she brought me, and says theres two whole bins full of VHS in her garage that she'll dig out.

She's just happy that they're going to someone who actually enjoys them.

Thanks Moe, you made my day.
