The winner of Scrum Debate #53 is...

Hallo, r/danganronpa

The scrum has come to pass like the season finale of your favorite show. With one final bow, it is time to tally up the score of this week’s scrum debate.

  1. Most Write Ups:
    • Kaede Akamatsu - 1
    • Kaito Momota - 3
  2. Highest Upvoted Write-Up:
  3. Highest Cumulative Upvote Count:
    • Kaede Akamatsu - 6
    • Kaito Momota - 8

While both were very influential on Shuichi’s character throughout the journey of V3, only one can influence him the most in the eyes of many. The winner is… Kaito Momota with a 2-1 score!!! An astronaut, a hot head, but most importantly, a friend for Shuichi in need. Kaito Momota has shown in life and death that you can change people for the better. Through believing in them even when things look grim, Kaito shows that reaching out to those in need can create a domino effect to a better tomorrow. This post will be pinned for the next week, so best to use this time to prepare for the following scrum: >!Punk Looks: Leon Kuwata VS Kazuichi Soda!<. Look forward to it!

Scrum Debate #53 - Shuichi’s Support

Wazzuuuppppppp, r/danganronpa?

Today is an auspicious day. This scrum marks a unique number in the Danganronpa franchise: Number 53! To celebrate such a special number, this week’s scrum debate will be totally unrelated to the number 53 and dedicated to Shuichi’s greatest supporters, Kaede Akamatsu vs Kaito Momota. Kaede, the short-lived supporter whose guiding words yet harrowing actions haunt the narrative. Kaito, the training buddy who reached for the stars until the very end. These two supportive characters are going head-to-head to see who was the most influential for Shuichi’s development and the impact on V3 as a whole. Just like with V3, this shall be settled in our own scrum debate. So pick left or right, everyone, because it’s time to explain how the debate will work.

Scrum Debates are an ongoing discussion series where users may submit write-ups for their side of this topic’s debate. To participate, comment below with your write-up as to who you think is superior of the two options. While not necessary, we advise you to make your write-ups relative to both sides, as it could make yours stand out among the masses. Scrum Debates are broken down into three categories:

  1. Quantity of Write-Ups: Whichever character/idea has the most comments in favor of them gets 1 point
  2. Highest Upvoted Write-Up: Whichever write-up has the highest upvoted comment gets them 1 point towards their chosen side
  3. Highest Cumulative Upvote Count: Whichever side has the most upvotes totalled at the end of the scrum gets 1 point

RULES - READ BEFORE POSTING OR YOUR COMMENT MAY BE REMOVED:
Scrum Debate is not a popularity contest; it's a writing competition. The comment section below is explicitly for thoughtful analysis. If you want examples or inspiration, check past scrums, SPOILER WARNING, and the old character discussion threads.

  • Low-effort and zero-effort comments, like stating the character you're voting for with little to no elaboration, will be removed and not count towards the final tally. At least a paragraph of elaboration is expected for your stance. Comments that only argue against one side will not earn any points.
  • Top-level off-topic comments will be removed, and instead should be replies to the pinned message. Meta comments, such as "this is a rough match-up for [character]", belong here.
  • Replies to other comments don't need to follow these rules, but please do keep civil.

This scrum will run for about 7 days. Afterwards, the winner of the scrum and the highest upvoted comment will be highlighted in the pinned posts for the following days. This post will be marked spoilers, so feel free to talk about any spoilers relevant to your write-up. If you would like to view the previous Scrum debates or view upcoming themes, please click here.

With that, the scrum debate shall begin. Load up your bullets and get ready to rebuttle!

Upcoming Temporary Restricted Mode - Nintendo Direct 6/9

Hey everyone,

We're going to put the subreddit in Restricted mode just before the upcoming Nintendo Direct to prevent flooding the sub if a new 2x2 trailer is revealed. This post will also serve as a megathread after the lockdown is done to allow users to discuss any potential 2x2 or lack thereof. Any low-effort posts made after the lockdown will be removed.

See you all for 2x2 news!

Scrum Debate #51: Sound Alikes - Makoto Naegi vs. Nagito Komaeda

Long time no see, r/danganronpa

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? For those old veterans like me who have been around for years, it’s good to see you, and it’s good to be back. For many of you, this is probably the first time seeing a scrum debate contest. I’ll break everything down for you so we can get started.

Introducing Super New and Improved Scrum Debates NEO! (Still legally called Scrum Debates)

For today’s scrum debate, we’re going to discuss something new yet sounds so familiar. It could be the same, or it could be different. That is up to you all to decide between Makoto Naegi vs Nagito Komaeda. We’re pinning our lucky students against one another to prove once and for all of five days who is the superior of the two. They don’t just share their talents with one another. They also share voice actors, belief systems, voice actors, and voice actors! It’s Ultimate Hopes all the way down. Before we start, we need to go over the rules that I totally didn’t copy and paste from the old scrums:

RULES - READ BEFORE POSTING OR YOUR COMMENT MAY BE REMOVED:
Scrum Debate is not a popularity contest; it's a writing competition. The comment section below is explicitly for thoughtful analysis. If you want examples or inspiration, check past scrums, SPOILER WARNING and the old character discussion threads.

This scrum will run for about ~7 days.

With that, I shall leave it up to the rest of you. Good luck and have fun writing,
The r/danganronpa mod team

Are you a left-side kind of scrum debater or a right-side scrum debater? Personally, I like facing left.
