Seed harvest and propagation

I’m loving watching the process of these amazing seed pods. Does anyone have any advice for retrieving and propagating them next year? Like are they better set on the plant until winter or is there a time when they should be plucked? Overwintering in mild PNW conditions and finally when to plant/start indoors?

dexamethesone test to test for hyper pots?

I know that I should be changing docs but its much harder than you would think with Kaiser, who doens't have POTS specialists, (or even people who seem knowledgeable). Before I go through the tests my current pcp wants me to take, I thought i would reach out to see if it makes sense to you guys...We are testing for hyperadrenergic pots and she wants to do a dexamethasone test and then a ACTH test. As far as I understand, these are tests for cushing's disease and addison's disease and the test for hyper pots is standing blood serum. Did ya'll have to do these tests as elimination tests prior to your standing blood serum or is this more evidence that my Dr is swatting at invisible bats?

Update to fix data lag

Just a friendly note that an update just dropped that is supposed to fix the data lags so many of us have been experiencing. I was too busy today to track mine but I installed it this morning and got alerts at the right times throughout the day until work ramped up. Fingers crossed.

My first datura

I didn’t realize it blooms in the evening/night which just adds to the splendor. I’ve got a hensbane in there and a little morning glory that’s winding around the giant datura and some rogue nasturtiums being silly little edible plants.

POTS Dr in Portland, OR?

Hey friends, I’m in a bit of a pickle. I’m out in no man’s land with my Kaiser insurance. I have the POTS dx, but after a year of trying the lifestyle changes without relief, I decided I want to try meds. I’m under the impression that the subtype will really dictate effectiveness in meds. I went to see my primary who is admittedly out of her league. She referred me to neurology. They kicked me back and said we don’t do pots. I found a cardio (I thought he was in network) down in Salem and asked for a referral and they kicked me back saying he’s out of network, you have to go to a cardio here. Cardio kicks me back saying we don’t do pots. Does anyone have ANY experience with Pots at Kaiser and could give me a name? I’ve hit up member services/coverage a couple of times and nothing. My other course would be to start experimenting with meds, but I’m less excited about that unless you can suggest something that would s more of an umbrella med. I’ve proposed switching from metoprolol to propranolol to my Dr, but she’s coming from a traditionalist practice that doesn’t know a lot about dysautonomia.

Retesting strategies?

So I’m having moderate success with H1H2 blockers plus metoprolol 100mg. I’m still symptomatic, but not as much. My network only has one POTS dr, and he’s a cardiologist. Should I stop all pharm therapy a few days before my appointment? I suspect I am hypovolemic, hyperadrenergic and probably neuropathic. My Dr just tested me and I didn’t “qualify” but I have before non-medicated. I have inappropriate sinus tachycardia and when not on H mediators can be tachy for my entire sleep cycle. Adjacent question, when I go in for my MCAS blood draw, should I trigger a reaction? Some of this question is framed by Medical PTSD and not being believed for 20 years….plus a health care system that doesn’t support a functional approach…. I’m In the United States

LPN practicum placement

Morning! It seems like my school is struggling to get us practicum placements for our term that starts 6/22. About half of us are not yet placed. Do you guys know of any opportunities in multnomah, clackamas county that I could personally pursue? It feels like I need to do the work to make this happen. My biggest goal is skill acquisition since neither clinical had a lot of hands on. Happy to answer specific questions. Thank you.

My class had this question today. Our instructor supported the ATI answer D. Do you? If so could you explain why? I’ve read elsewhere that you should refuse to accept the assignment.

A nurse arrives for their shift and is assigned more clients than they feel is safe. The charge nurse states there are no other options due to a shortage in nursing staff. Which of the following actions should the nurse take? A.Request to float to another unit. B. Refuse the assignment and leave the unit. C.File an incident report with the risk manager. D. Submit a written complaint to the nursing supervisor.

Thank you lovelies.
