[upd] i don’t understand why student-leaders want to remove the “abstain” option sa elections
i get that representation matters, but what if the only candidate running is incompetent and doesn’t have their constituents’ best interests at heart? how is bad representation better than no representation?
“it counts as a nonvote, so wala dapat sa ballot” no ?? it’s a way of voters showing na hindi sila sang-ayon sa pagtakbo/pagkapanalo ng candidate. if tanggalin yung abstain, edi matic panalo yung nag-iisang candidate na tumatakbo?
if tanggalin man ang abstain, dapat maging majority ng buong *student body*, yung boboto for that candidate para manalo siya, since by their logic, nonvote = abstain (which is probably gonna be worse for the community kasi mababa lang voter turnout)
and anyways if worthy man manalo ang isang kandidato edi marami boboto sa kanya kahit pa man may option mag-abstain lols
