What should be my budget for buying car

Hello everyone! I’m a first time car buyer and I’m wondering if anyone can help me figure out what is a realistic budget for a buying a used car. I make $17/hr as a 20 year old with my front desk job and I pretty much get everything covered by my parents. So most likely around 80% of what I make at my job will be going to this car. I have no money saved for a car but I’m ready to work hard and save for a down payment. Anything is helpful, even if it’s a reality check!

Thanks!

Reality of being first time car buyer

Hello everyone! I was stopping by this subreddit to see if anyone has tips for first time car buyers. I am 20 years old and I think I’ll finally have money to spend to get myself a car. I am about to enter a job position where I will be making $17/hr and I have really no other money obligations other than my dog. I am looking to obviously purchase something on the cheaper side, and use my parent’s credit to get the best monthly plan I can. My questions are: is this realistic, if I have no money saved (but I’m obviously planning on saving all of the new money I have). Whats the maximum cost you would suggest me look at ( I live in Texas for reference). And what are some things you would recommend for me to consider in this whole process.

Thank you everyone!
