Marina Hyde Leaves the Guardian - One Less Transphobe in the Building.

From the latest Private Eye;

“HYDE OUT

Mixed emotions at the Guardian over the departure of Marina Hyde, the long-serving acerbic columnist who is off to pastures new (but remains coy so far about where they might be).
Hyde has enjoyed enormous success with the ever-expanding Rest Is Entertainment podcast she has hosted for Goalhanger with Richard Osman for the past three years, including considerable financial rewards from the hostage video-style adverts the pair voice during the show. She has previously complained to colleagues that her request to take a similar cut from a proposed in-house podcast series for the Guardian itself had been rebuffed by bosses, which led her to seek her fortune elsewhere.
With exquisite timing, Hyde handed in her notice just as the Guardian devoted the cover and five pages of its Saturday magazine to plugging her new book, a collection of columns published by the imprint the paper co-owns with Faber. By way of a hand grenade lobbed over her shoulder into the bearpit of pro-and anti-trans sensitivities that is the Guardian office, Hyde used her exit interview to respond to a reader question, "Who would you pick as prime minister": "JK Rowling.”

What a hateful little troll. Its nice to know which podcast to avoid now.

Are there any cases pending or in preparation challenging the recent series of political decisions and legal rulings?

Given all of the negative news lately, I was wondering if anyone knows of any legal actions either in progress, or in preparation challenging some of the recent political decisions?

I believe that the law is how we change things, without meaning to sound all Chuck McGill, it’s the one tool that any society has to define it’s sense of civil values and effect change.

It would be nice, and maybe positive, to keep a community curated list of legal actions fighting back. If you know of any please post links.

Andy Burnham and Transgender People's Rights

I'm anxiously awaiting to see how Burnham behaves when PM with regards to transgender people's rights. I was wondering if he made any public statements in the wake of Brianna Ghey's murder, and found this piece from the Manchester Evening News. He used some nice words, and I would like to see him held to this sentiment.

""It's a night of huge positivity, of unity and solidarity between people within our LGBTQ+ community, because we are proud of you and we love you," Andy Burnham said to applause as he opened the event. These awards are what Greater Manchester needs and what the country needs because these are difficult times; tough times. These awards are the antidote to what we are living through.
"We are a place that says proudly that trans rights are human rights. We are a place where everyone here is equal. This is a city where nobody is more important than anyone else, where everyone works every day to support each other and where everyone deserves the best life they can possibly have."
