¿Qué tal respecto como se portan los hondureños?

Soy profesor de inglés y vine hace 3 semanas para trabajar en unas escuelas aquí, y nadie quiere aprovechar de mi tiempo ni hablar conmigo. Siempre estoy disponible antes y después para que los alummos/alumnas tengan un sitio en que pueden practicar con un nativo del idioma.

Ni en las universidades nadie le da la gana a empujarse adelante y practicar el idioma que estudia...¿Cuál es el pedo?

Looking for videos on how to begin reading deeply through literary analysis

Hi everyone,

My undergraduate was in Philosophy, but I have become very interested in literature (something I almost never read as a kid I am embarrassed to say)

I could analyze the text like a student of Philosophy, but I feel this would be missing the forest for the trees; we are not just creating arguments through metaphysics or logic...we are discovering something about ourselves and the author.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I am interested in Cormac McCarthy's work because of its root in determinism and nihilism/existentialism.

Thank you!

Hi all,

So, I was set up to go abroad to study Spanish and have already paid for flights, air bnb, etc...a good amount of $

However, the school has fallen through unfortunately. It was the only school in the city I was going to, and I find myself in a sunk cost fallacy.

I have some family friends in the city, so I will have a lot to do as far as going out and practicing with people, but I am now without a practice school; my next thought was to go online and look for some good tutors, so I wanted to come first and ask if anyone here would recommend their own tutor they use?

I don't want to just pick someone from italki, I'd rather have other Spanish learners from this sub give me some advice.

Thank you!

I have been reading news papers and online articles for sometime, and recently made the switch to books (outside of graded readers). I immediately noticed that I a lot of words were outside of my vocabulary...and this was bothersome as I had to split my time between a book and my ipad/computer to find translations and examples. So if I had an hour to read, I spent 15-20 minutes of my time looking for words and adding them to anki.

About 3 weeks ago I purchased a Kindle and it has been a game changer. First off, the books are incredibly cheap compared to paperbacks or hardcovers. Second, it has a built in Wikipedia! I am currently reading Pedro Páramo, which is a bit difficult, but anytime I come across a word that is not in my vocabulary I don't need to stop, I just highlight it and hit Wikipedia. Boom! Automatic translation with sentences examples.

If you can, consider one. They have some good budget friendly options as well!

Happy reading!

Hi everyone,

I am a byproduct of a poor public education system & the No Child Left Behind disaster. I am currently a graduate student, and while I can keep up just fine, my writing has always been a source of insecurity. I was thinking about using Grammarly, but do not want to use anything that just fixes the issues without teaching me. Is there any sort of interactive software that acts as a usage dictionary, something that I can use for a bit to help me build better habits?
