Looking to buy myself a forever acoustic guitar
I have two acoustics currently (Mitchell MD-100 and an Abilene AW-20 GA) and theyve done well, but I can here the tonal difference between them and think I may be interested in something better. Ive been playing for about 16-18 years, but most of that has been electric. Ive learned cowboy chords and some general acoustic material. I got really into folk punk for awhile and learned quite a bit of Harley Poe.
Anyways, I am looking to get a new acoustic. I want an upgrade and I dont really know where to start or what I even really want. I feel like I want a single cut dreadnought, but I worry I could be after the wrong thing. I dont know anywhere near as much about acoustics as I have learned about electrics over the years.
What I think I know is that....I think I would like to prioritize the sound over all, then playability, then electronics (required), then looks. I do think looks can be important, but it is the lowest priority for me...but some guitars can just be gawdy and that could be a deal breaker.
I guess what I really want to know is, what are some questions I need to ask myself to figure out what kind of acoustic Id like to get myself? What are some suggestions for an acoustic you think may be an option and I should try?
I live in lower Michigan, so I plan on visiting a guitar center, Elderly's in Lansing, and Sweet Water in Fort Wayne and trying a bunch of acoustics.
I dont plan on spending more than $1000 max, but id really like to keep it under $750.
