Leather for lanyard

I am looking for suggestions where to get some good leather for a lanyard for my zaan. I used to use a leather shoelace that they sold at Walmart but can’t find it anywhere now. It was good quality, fit the hole in the zaans pin, and would get nice and soft after some use. Anyone have any good suggestions ?
