Did I accidentally kill my portable?
I have an MZ-N707 that I use for all of my netMD recording, and since it goes through batteries like crazy when recording, I tried to save money (And the environment) by getting a USB adapter for the battery so it could just run off of my laptop's power (See link below). I plugged it in and it wouldn't turn on, just said "charging" as though I had it plugged in via the DC and it was charging a battery. I took it out after 15 seconds or so because there's nothing to charge, and the back was warm and I got a not-happy smell from the internals. Now it won't turn on, even after waiting for everything to cool down and putting in a new battery per the manual.
Did I just accidentally cook my MD player? I don't have the ability to fix it if so and I don't know if it would be cost effective to pay to ship it to get fixed if it's been shorted out versus buying a new one.
