[US] White Van Speaker Scam, Halo Acoustics

[Attached, picture of the scam site]

Well, I feel incredibly stupid writing this, but my pain is your gain I suppose.

I got flagged down in the Lowe’s parking lot in my town by two guys in this really nice (and new) Ford F250 King Ranch. They said they had some speakers and projectors they were trying to sell, excess from some job they had been on. Incredibly seedy from the get-go, I know, but my dad told me stories of some of the interesting stuff he’s managed to buy for cheap in Walmart parking lots (an actually real 18k gold chain being one), and I thought “well what the hell, let’s see where this goes.”

And honestly, I applaud them for how good the scam is. Everything is very well packaged; shrink wrapped, branded tape, anti-theft straps, the whole 9 yards. They explained they had some excess items from a job they just did, the people they “worked for” said they could keep the items, and so they said they had decided they would sell them. Again, I was suspicious of that, but still I thought “hell, a few hundred won’t break me at all.” I thought it was a risk possibly worth taking, they seemed like respectable guys in a really nice truck.

So after haggling with the guys, I got them to sell me it for $250. Packed it in my truck and went our separate ways.

Got home, and they were the biggest pieces of shit I’ve seen. So, I felt stupid as hell calling my bank to try and file a dispute. Consider this a lesson learned (that I will never be as lucky as my dad LOL).

But, I noticed there was a severe lack of information on this “company” when I tried to search it up, besides this weirdly bare site that didn’t have much info. They’ll probably scrap it and move on to some other made up brand they’ll slap on some Amazon speakers (honestly an insult to Amazon speakers), but I figured this post might save somebody a few hundred bucks.

So like I said; my pain, your gain. I know I’m naive and maybe a little stupid, it is what it is I guess.
