Is my Alfa Romeo Mito 1.4 2009 95bhp, worth spending the money for upgrading??

Hey all!

First of all, I’m not Matt Armstrong and i have got very little experience with hands on modifications. I would never know initially how to do any of this stuff, so it’s fair to say I’m a newbie at all of this tbh.

First Alfa ever - picked up a 2009 MiTo 1.4 (95bhp). Already had the gearbox replaced so mechanics are solid, but power is definitely modest 😂

Big upgrades (remaps, ECU swaps etc) cost thousands, way too much for me right now. Total budget is ~£1000-£1750 (£2000 at most). Only planning to keep it a few years, but I’ll hold onto it longer if it turns into a fun project.

I’ve read abit about the 09’ 95bhp model, hasn’t got a lot of “stock” features that allow easy upgrades. So if I changed ECUs and all that stuff, I would need to start changing filters and coolers to keep up with the changes in power.

Top priorities:

  1. Exhaust: #1 want. Info online is so vague! I just want a nice Alfa growl, nothing too loud or drone-y for daily use. Any brand/setup recs?

  2. Alloy wheels: Better look, fill the arches properly, no bad ride or handling. Best sizes/offsets?

  3. Small bits: Air filter, induction kit etc - any worth doing for small gains/sharper feel?

What’s actually worth spending money on for these engines? What should I avoid wasting cash on? All help appreciated! ❤️

Is it worth spending anything at all on my 2009 MiTo 1.4 95bhp - £1000-£2000 mods??

Hey all!

(I should state first that I am a new driver who has passed this year and the Mito I have was the best I could get, I couldn’t upgrade it to a faster version as the insurance was battering me*)
