Effects of feeding

I've been seeing a lot of mentions lately about amanos going different colors and figured I'd show a perfect example of what can cause so many different shades in the Amano lines. These are 2 lemon yellow amanos, on the right was a newly introduced Amano for my breeding line, and on the left is one of the current females. These are being fed heavily with astaxanthin based food which causes an extreme color shift. It looks and seems permanent, but weeks off of the diet and a molt will return to bright yellow. Also included a pic of my Goldbacks neos on the same diet, you can see the color difference in them as well. Many commercial feeds have some form of color booster in them and Interact with individual shrimp differently. For example, my snow whites are not affected by the astaxanthin at all, even tho they are more clear base that you'd imagine takes on color more, but in actuality the lack of a "base coat" as you will prevents them from taking on the color

Momma kicking out her lottles

Came home to what I thought was an extremely disappointing batch of Amano larvae only to find out momma just started 😂. She's barely starting to kick them out. Busy morning tomorrow when she's done I guess 🤷‍♂️

Tank bred Amano (snow whites)

These guys have a few days back into freshwater now. Roughly 300-400 shrimplets this batch. These are some of the first round transfers that are getting more comfortable coming out and up to the front during the day now. They've been hiding while they adjust and are so insanely small it's tough to spot them. A few more weeks and they will be substantially larger

Tank Bred Amanos 👀

Snow White Amano post Larvae state. Lots of experiments and a few attempts have paid off massively. 4th round of morphs on their way to their growout tank. Lemon yellows hopefully arriving next week to expand the breeding 🤞
