Effects of feeding
I've been seeing a lot of mentions lately about amanos going different colors and figured I'd show a perfect example of what can cause so many different shades in the Amano lines. These are 2 lemon yellow amanos, on the right was a newly introduced Amano for my breeding line, and on the left is one of the current females. These are being fed heavily with astaxanthin based food which causes an extreme color shift. It looks and seems permanent, but weeks off of the diet and a molt will return to bright yellow. Also included a pic of my Goldbacks neos on the same diet, you can see the color difference in them as well. Many commercial feeds have some form of color booster in them and Interact with individual shrimp differently. For example, my snow whites are not affected by the astaxanthin at all, even tho they are more clear base that you'd imagine takes on color more, but in actuality the lack of a "base coat" as you will prevents them from taking on the color
