Sleepy Eliot's

Hey all, our Eliot's chameleon, who has been happy and healthy since we got him in April, has been sleeping a lot in the past few days. He'll fall asleep sitting on your finger. We had replaced his UVB bulb because it burnt out a week ago, and just today realized that we had gotten a non-uvb bulb. We fixed that problem today. Could that be causing his sleepiness? What else should we look at? Temperature and humidity are always within the suggested ranges. I'm thinking maybe he's not eating enough, but that's very hard to monitor. Please forgive the streaky glass.

The argument from non-resistant unbelief (divine hiddenness) is the strongest argument against the God I was taught exists.

Growing up, I was taught that God was omnipotent and desired that everyone follow him.

Because there exist millions of people who desperately want to believe in God but can't - people who are open-minded and have even fallen away from their faith against their own wishes, because they can see no reason to begin or continue to believe - that God does not exist.

The only other solution I can see is to deny that there exists anyone who sincerely wants to believe in God but doesn't. This dismisses the testimony of many, many people, some who are in the clergy.

A tri-omni God would not create people who will end up in hell.

Assume a creator God who is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent.

Assume heaven and hell.

This god knows who will end up in heaven and who will end up in hell.

This god could refrain from creating the people who will end up in hell.

Earth would be populated entirely by people who freely choose those actions that ensure eternal reward.

People who would freely choose those actions that ensure eternal torment simply wouldn't exist.

If this God is omnipotent, he could accomplish this. If he's omnibenevolent, he would wish this.

Therefore, the tri-omni God does not exist.

I'll bet no one has a more unpopular opinion than this:

I hate summer.

I hate the heat, the sun, summer activities like the beach, pool parties, etc.

I like having time off, but I do not need two and a half months off.

I get my summer pay in a lump sum at the beginning of the summer, so I have to budget, and the end of summer is always rough.

And then the chaos and uncertainty of the beginning of a new school year is the reward for summer ending.

I'd much rather just work straight through. Give me three-day weekends instead. Give me longer winter and spring breaks.

Anyone else? 😂

Find a better district

I know this is easier said than done.

But it's simply true. If you're a newish, youngish teacher, and have the ability to move, even if it's not easy (it's NEVER *easy*), move to a better district.

This is the solution to most problems teachers post here.

Are drugs a big problem in your school? Are students assaulting teachers? Is your admin team throwing you under the bus? Do you have no union?

Find a better district.

There are no perfect districts. But there damn sure are better ones than *those.*
