I just received an email from my attorney that my i140 was approved. I haven’t seen anything from my end yet but want to put it out so others can have hope. I filed pp March 26 and was refunded July 30.
I have a question about employment-based AOS approvals. I filed my I-485 in April 2026 because USCIS was using the Dates for Filing (DOF) chart. Right now, the Visa Bulletin Final Action Date is still back in 2024, so I know my I-485 can’t be approved yet.
My question is this: if the Visa Bulletin were to become current in October (or otherwise advance enough that my priority date becomes current), is it possible for USCIS to approve my pending I-485 right away if my I-140 is already approved and everything else is complete? Or do people who filed under DOF usually still wait a while after becoming current?
I’m not asking whether it’s guaranteed—just whether immediate approval is actually possible for pending cases.

my pp i140 for my eb3 has been pending since March and I don’t know what else to do. after much back and forth with my attorneys, they eventually reached out to pp department and they responded with a generic message saying they are still processing but can’t say when a dec will be made. I have tried to follow up on my own but they said i140 is my employer/attorney petition and they can’t give me any decision about it. this feels very unfair and tiring for me. No approval or RFE or nothing just silence
I filed my i485 concurrently in April 2026 with DAF. My OPT expires in August and I wanted to use the AOS EAD if it gets approved so I don’t have to go back to school for day 1 CPT in the fall. But I have spoken to two immigration lawyers one of them said it’s okay not to go back to school while I wait but the other said once my SEVIS says completed I can be put in removal proceedings. I am not sure what to do. Helppp
