I’ve never really made a post on Reddit before, but I hear that this is the place to go when you need advice and I am desperate. So last August I bought my first car, a 2010 Chevy Colbalt 4 door sedan the month before I turned 17 (I turn 18 in September). I bought it from a long time friend of mine for 250$. It did not run or start, the day I got it someone in my neighborhood saw me working on it and bought me a new battery which got the car to start I ran some codes and the only mechanical issue was a small EVAP leak also a transmission cooler line leak. I fixed the trans cooler within the week and everything was going smooth, then my dumbass went out to test it and it turns out the hood latch wasn’t locked and it shattered my windshield. The car was later towed due to the way it looked and It was considered an “eyesore to the neighborhood” but a few months later my aunt generously payed the impound fee to get it back and now it stays on my friends property on the Rez where it can’t be touched. Now this is my current problem and the reason I am posting this, the car can only stay there untill June 1st. The job I have is not ideal I don’t get many hours and I barely make 100$ a week, I need atleast 500$ to fix the windshield and I need atleast 75 for a new alternator and I need to get it ready for inspection (I live in upstate NY) I also need to find a way to afford insurance so I can it plated and keep it in my nieghborhood. Everyone in my life is telling me to just give up on it, but I refuse too. I sold a lot of my belongings just to keep it mine and this car is very important to me it has alot of sentimental value to me and I really don’t wanna give up on it.
