Yesterday's poll (in case you missed it) yielded almost 6 thousand responses at the time of posting this. I find this kind of data very interesting, so I made some interesting conclusions from it. I posted a comment with some findings but wonder if there are any other thoughts about this.
Using the data, I determined the percentage that each planet was chosen as first, second, and third. This table can be read as: "77% of responses put Vulcanus 1st."
| Order | Vulcanus | Fulgora | Gleba |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st | 77% | 18% | 5% |
| 2nd | 19% | 71% | 9% |
| 3rd | 4% | 10% | 86% |
Some conclusions:
- An overwhelming preference for Vulcanus -> Fulgora -> Gleba
- The strongest preference is to visiting Gleba last
- An overwhelming aversion to visiting Vulcanus last. Responses are more likely to visit Gleba first than Vulcanus last
Next, I looked specifically at the second pick (this is the last choice you make, as the second pick also locks in your third). The next table can be read as: "of those who choose Vulcanus first, 10% go to Gleba second."
| If you visit: | 2nd Vulcanus | 2nd Fulgora | 2nd Gleba |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st Vulcanus | - | 90% | 10% |
| 1st Fulgora | 91% | - | 9% |
| 1st Gleba | 51% | 49% | - |
Thoughts:
- While Vulcanus is the overwhelming favorite to go first, the second table shows that Vulcanus and Fulgora are on quite even footing overall. Their second pick rates are basically even (50/50 against each other, and 90/10 against Gleba)
Most of these results are intuitive and match the general sentiment surrounding each planet. However, it is interesting to see the data confirm these sentiments and draw some interesting conclusions. As someone who voted F->V->G, I feel that these results match what I expected. Thanks for reading, share any other thoughts or conclusions you drew from the poll.
