You DO Get a Planet! 🪐

You DO Get a Planet! 🪐

TLDR: The church is talking out of both sides of its mouth.

Hiding the embarrassing: A hallmark sign of a cult is that they have outsider vs. insider doctrines. Because the church knows that the idea of people "becoming a god" and "creating their own worlds" is weird (especially to other Christians who they are now trying to copy) publicly the church is (like they always do) pretending that yet another uncomfortable doctrine was never a thing here on the Church Newsroom:

🚫 "NO Planet" (outsiders are told):

"Do Latter-day Saints believe that they will “get their own planet”? No. This idea is not taught in Latter-day Saint scripture, nor is it a doctrine of the Church. This misunderstanding stems from speculative comments unreflective of scriptural doctrine." Church Newsroom

Spoiler Alert: You can still find the teaching of getting worlds/planets all over the church's website.

YES Planet 🪐 (insiders are told):

"Brethren, 225,000 of you are here tonight. I suppose 225,000 of you may become gods. There seems to be plenty of space out there in the universe. And the Lord has proved that he knows how to do it. I think he could make, or probably have us help make, worlds for all of us, for every one of us 225,000." President Spencer W. Kimball

"My Father worked out His kingdom with fear and trembling, and I must do the same; and when I get my kingdom, I shall present it to My Father, so that He may obtain kingdom upon kingdom, and it will exalt Him in glory." Joseph Smith

"Being joint-heirs of all that the Father has, we may then look forward to using those powers to organize still other worlds from the unorganized matter that exists throughout boundless space. Creating other worlds, peopling them with our own eternal posterity" New Era Church Magazine

"We learn both the spiritual things and the secular things “so we may one day create worlds [and] people and govern them” President Spencer W. Kimball

"Then they gained the power and godhood of their Father and were made heirs of all that he had, continuing his works and creating worlds of their own for their own posterity—the same as their Father had done before, and his Father, and his Father, and on and on." New Era Church Magazine

"He knew that the only way His children could become righteous enough to live with Him again through all eternity, and create worlds of their own, was if they were able to make their own choices." The Friend Church Magazine

“What is man in this boundless setting of sublime splendor? I answer you: Potentially now, actually to be, he [man] is greater and grander, more precious according to the arithmetic of God, than all the planets and suns of space. For him [man] were they created; they are the handiwork of God; man is his son" Elder Ted E. Brewerton First Quorum of the Seventy
