Just need to make a head and spine sticker to cover up my sacrifice (sorry City on Fire, you’re a great film!). Felt well worth it since this is a cheapo little film

I’m a middle school teacher and have quite a few kids with strong reading skills that I want push further with more robust literature. I’ve got a personal list of stuff I’ll give those kids, but I’m always looking for more. Ideally I’d like to recommend them stuff that isn’t middle grade/YA, since they all have read most of that when I find anything worthwhile. Ideally no or minimal sex, no gratuitous violence (at least within reason, I just have prudish parents that are content-conscious), and strong thematic/literary value.

Some examples of books/authors they’ve liked:
We Have Always Lived in the Castle/Haunting of Hill House
The Outsiders
John Steinbeck
Binti
Lotr
Ray Bradbury
Ursula K Le Guin
Ender’s Game
The Thief of Always
To Kill a Mockingbird
Rolling Thunder, Hear my Cry

Ideally I’d love the to work into more “adult” literature, but too many books I’d want to recommend will be difficult for them to understand at their age. Any help is appreciated!
