Marie Gabrielle in Dallas canceled our wedding venue booking (Harwood Hospitality)
Hey everyone, I just wanted to share a frustrating situation we’re dealing with and see if anyone else has gone through something similar with Harwood Hospitality.
We had our wedding booked and locked in at Marie Gabrielle in Dallas downtown, but we recently received a formal cancellation notice from them. The reason they provided was a "building management change and repurposing the garden."
As a makeup option, Harwood offered to move us to Léonie at Hotel Swexan for the same price. While I get that they are trying to offer an alternative under their corporate umbrella, it really isn't a comparable option for us:
The Aesthetic:
We chose Marie Gabrielle specifically for the lush, outdoor garden environment. Léonie has none of that vibe.
The Space:
Léonie is much smaller and functions as a hotel restaurant space; it’s really not built or designed as a dedicated wedding venue.
Losing a venue unexpectedly is incredibly stressful, and scrambling to find a replacement has been a massive headache. At this point, we are actively looking into our legal options regarding contract breach and seeking compensatory reimbursement for the disruption and extra costs this is causing.
Has anyone else dealt with a sudden cancellation from Marie Gabrielle or another Harwood property recently? Any advice on finding a last-minute garden venue in DFW would also be greatly appreciated.
