I can't believe it's the big 2026 and people are still onto this "base Giyu held back against Akaza" nonsense.

I can't believe it's the big 2026 and people are still onto this "base Giyu held back against Akaza" nonsense.

Claim: "Giyu held back against Akaza because he said he didn't want to swing his sword."

Counterpoint: wants ≠ needs. Someone's reluctance to get up in the morning for work doesn't mean they won't eventually do so out of necessity. Giyu was clearly overwhelmed in this fight, so he needed to go all out.

This panel simply reveals the foils between Giyu and Akaza: both are trying to be stronger, but one of them does it out of duty and wouldn't really want to fight in peacetime, while the other does it for the love of the game.
