I got waitlisted for MIT and it seems that they want an update essay from me (max 500 words). How must I approach this essay? Should I just write it like the FUN form (casually) or do they want a little more from me? Also do they want me to fill in the 500 words (or at least majority) because I'd admit I don't think I have a 500 word worthy update. I know I have a very (very) low chance of getting into MIT through the waitlist, but I still don't want to half-ass it.

fyi I have other options instead of MIT just incase anyone asks.
