Solid advice

Or is this something specific to my own weird brain? For example:

Mrs Ciggerbutts: despite her pre clean, I always encounter her weird little stashes of half smoked cigarettes all around the house

Toilet Tom: his toilets are always stained (but not filthy) … the stains are caused by a ‘flushing is optional’ protocol 🤨

The Cat House: multiple feline home. The litter is meticulously maintained and the kitties are excellent with their litter habits, but holy moly … the hair!!!

Snoof Dogg house: see above re: hair, with the added bonus of slobber on windows and drools on floors

I could go on … what are some of yours?

(Not shaming clients here … it’s just the mental association I’ve developed and I adjust my supplies accordingly lol)

A week and a half ago I posted about a job - I was concerned about how much time it took, and you guys came through, reassuring me that I wasn’t slow/slacking. The owner is in her 80’s and it’s her summer cottage; her son handles the finances.

I did a deep clean and prioritized things that needed doing but that nobody has the time or inclination to attend to when they’re on vacation; I wanted her to be able to just arrive, pour a glass of wine and enjoy. (She kept ‘finding’ things that had been cleaned, that she fully expected to be dirty or grimy lol 😂)

Her son called and said I didn’t charge enough. And sent a very generous tip, on top of what I billed them. ☺️

I just spent 29hrs de-wintering/opening and then deep cleaning a 3 bed 1 bath cottage. Some of the extras above and beyond:

- vacuum ceilings and walls (spiderwebs)
- windows (tbf, there were loads of them, the cottage has two sides facing the lake)
- scrub buildup along baseboards and in corners
- deep clean/maintenance of major appliances (oven, dishwasher, fridge, washer and dryer). I also pulled out all the appliances and cleaned behind and under them
- tops of cabinets 😣 wipe outsides and insides
- remove/disassemble and clean all light fixtures and fans
- remove and wash window treatments (blinds and curtains)
- launder the linens and make beds

I also cleaned/dusted all the pictures/Knick knacks and furnishings and vacuumed the upholstery, moved furniture to clean under/behind

Like - the place is sparkling and the owners are thrilled … but holy cow.

If I’d been asked to quote my time up front I would’ve thought 15-20hrs but it was one of those deals where the more I did, the more I found that needed to be done.

After all the other Bumble fumbles so far, I have little faith that this will be of any value for women who are still using the apps.

What’s next? Avatars and RPG style dating apps? I have a sinking suspicion that AI will essentially be used to polish up the profiles of mediocre - or outright awful - men, and as a lazy way for them to boost their terrible communication skills (eliminating the filthy or aggressive talk to basically prevent women from discovering misogynists before meeting).
