Ok, this is a long shot, but hey, I'll give it a try.

I'm an academic researcher in Australia. I've come across a reference in the New York Times to a man from Akola named Gopilal Sharma who rode a motorcycle around the world in 1955–56 with his 16-year-old daughter Chandrakala. They were Congress people — he was secretary of the Akola Nagar Congress Committee. Chandrakala would be 87 by now.

Does anyone recognise the name, or know a family, or know who keeps Akola’s old records?

I know there are 600,000 people in Akola, and it's a long shot. But hey. You've gotta try.
