Hi everyone,
I live in a 2-bed lounge flat with 2 other family members. We have no AC, no microwave, no washing machine, and no kitchen electronics. All we have is an inverter fridge, an iron, an electric geyser, 2 ceiling fans, and like 4 to 5 bulbs.
Our units' consumption has been 90 to around 120 max for the past few months. It was 100 this last month actually. But, in March (Ramzan; reading taken on 16th April), we apparently consumed an abnormal 267 units out of absolutely nowhere - a bill of 13,000. Funnily enough, we were out of Karachi for a week for that month and locked up our house so that we had no consumption. In comparison, so far in 15 days we have consumed only 80 units.
My brother and I are not home for half the day, which leaves behind my mother and just one fan operating. Our meters are locked away behind gates by the apartment building, so it seems improbable that there is theft going on. We turned off the main breaker to check if anything remained on; nothing did. Our reading is also accurate and matches the bill.
The electric geyser has been off, and if it consumed a lot of electricity, our bill would have been high in winters as well (we used fans back then as well).
Because of this insane unit's consumption (allegedly), our unit price is now inflated for the next 6 months. As a result, just 100 units cost us 4000 last month.
I have called and launched a complaint twice now. Upon calling the second time they told me that no such complaint had been filed :p
"Sir, apki normal billing hui hai," this is all they had to say. I emailed their support and also complained through linkedin (a bit unorthodox, but they respond there). The last step is repetitive visits to the local IBC, which has low chances of bearing fruit.
I need someone who can get this matter sorted. Help me out.
