Playing Through Panzer Dragoon Saga For The First Time.
I finally was able to acquire a Sega Saturn as my old one broke years ago. I inherited Panzer Dragoon Saga from my sister and have never been able to play it until now.
The game is a beautiful masterpiece that somehow captures the era it was designed in. As someone who loves the PS1/N64 aesthetic but never dove super deep into the Saturn, the visual design captured my heart pretty quickly. If Final Fantasy is a series based around trying to prevent a world ending apocalypse, PDS feels very much like a game where the apocalypse already happened and you're just trying to pick up the pieces.
The game does an amazing job of teaching you it's battle mechanics. I always feel overwhelmed playing unfamiliar RPG's but using the gun and the laser to get through swarms of enemies in a random battle feels very intuitive.
I think my only complaints are save points are a bit too far from each other and a lack of an ability to run from battle.
