Looking for some advice because I feel like I’m going crazy! Over the last probably 4 weeks, any time I poop, I feel an intensely sharp feeling at the end of my rectum along with a little bit of bright red bleeding on the toilet paper. This pain lasts maybe an hour or so after as well (although not as bad) and it’s making me really nervous any time I poop. I went to my GI doctor 2 weeks ago and they prescribed me hydrocortisone suppositories, thinking it’s hemorrhoids. After using those up for 2 weeks and it not really doing much to help (maybe a little bit), I went back and told them all this. They proceeded to tell me they’re sure it’s internal hemorrhoids and not an anal fissure because “if it was an anal fissure you would have constant, bad pain and possibly an infection at this point. Also, there would be constant anal bleeding vs intermittent”. I keep reading online that it’s the opposite of what they said and hemorrhoids are more like constant, dull pain whereas anal fissures are most of a sharp pain when you poop. Am I just going crazy?? I want to trust my doctor rather than online articles but have no idea what to do! Please let me know what your symptoms were because I have no idea if mine truly are more hemorrhoid-like!
