My daughter will be 4 in about 5 months and this morning she refused to wear a diaper. She has in the past shown interest in the potty, and has peed in the potty on occasion, but she hasn't shown traditional signs of being ready (waking up dry, telling us she pooped - sometimes her poop even surprises her) but I figured given her age and her not wanting to wear a diaper we could try the potty.
In the past 30 minutes, she has gone to the potty 3 times and peed and she has peed in the floor, which took her by surprise. Is this normal? How do I get her to hold it longer in between pees? Its like small trickles, although once seemed like it was a lot but shes had more trickles since. Is she just not ready or is there something I can do to help?
My son was completely different in that he would hold his and was scared to pee outside his diaper. I think i rushed him too early and caused him to be afraid of the potty so I've tried to take a more child led approach with my daughter.
