TLDR: female cat territorial af
Friends, I need help. Background is going to be long, I apologize in advance.
My household has 2 adults, an infant, and 2 cats. Bons, an 8 yo F, and Te, a 6 yo M.
My partner and I had our cats prior to relationships, so a blended family if you will.
When we first moved in together, the cats got along fine.
Bons had tendencies to eat most of the food when we first moved in, but they shared a litter box fine and after 7ish months even started playing together.
Fast forward two years, a move, and a baby, and things have gone downhill fast.
Both kittens now mark their territory daily.
Te pees exclusively on my husband’s clothes (this is “his” cat so to speak). Bons (“mine”) pees on our shoes, beds, baby’s car seat, any clothes not in a container, bath mats, sometimes in the middle of the floor, on the litter mat, inside the litter box, literally anywhere and everywhere.
We’ve taken both to the vet, neither have any medical conditions. Te is on gaba to help manage any stress from baby. Bons is prone to fleas and has an allergy; but we treat quickly and manage well.
We also have a pheromone plug in near their sleeping spot.
On top of peeing every where and causing our house to smell horrific.
Bons also now attacks Te whenever he gets close to her. Talking claws out and mad hissing.
Our sweet boy has to sneak by her to get up stairs or around corners to avoid being attacked.
She’s genuinely turning into a havoc and unfortunately we are getting to the end of our ropes.
It’s impacting Te’s quality of life, and truthfully, with lack of sleep cause baby, we’re not able to give Bons as much patience with this as she deserves. (She’s safe. We’re not hurting her. But def being more scoldy than we would’ve pre baby)
Do y’all have any suggestions on how I fix this? Or even how I can make the house a safer place for them.
Bons use to be an indoor/outdoor kitty from ages 3-5. I’m wondering if we should go back to this. I’m a little hesitant because our new neighborhood has LOTS of stray kitties and she’s a pretty so may get stolen.
But I’m willing to set that aside to have her happy and Te safe.
Picture is the sweet kiddos before officially living together. Bons and I use to do sleep overs at Te and hubby’s.
