Turkish Airlines hidden city / skiplagging to Istanbul: Will they really cancel my return flight?
Hi everyone,
I bought a cheap Turkish Airlines ticket from Mexico City (MEX) to Rome (FCO) with a long layover in Istanbul, and return from Milan (MXP). The plan is to stay in Istanbul and skip the flight to Rome (and obviously not go to Milan for the return).
I’m traveling with my girlfriend, only carry-on luggage. I already spoke with an agent and the policy is very clear: if you no-show on any segment, they automatically cancel all remaining segments (including the return).
Questions:
• Has anyone done this recently with Turkish Airlines (2025-2026)? Did they cancel your return ticket or did it go through?
• Does calling in advance to tell them we won’t take the IST-FCO flight help, or is it better to say nothing?
• Is there any way they can be flexible, or do they always cancel automatically?
I know it’s against the rules (hidden city ticketing), but it was much cheaper and it’s already paid. Looking for real recent experiences, especially with round-trip tickets and two passengers.
