Ethiopian airlines

So had a weird experience with the airline. My husband missed a flight at Addis with eithad due to a delay by Ethiopian on a previous leg. Eithad could only put him on a new flight 24 hours later. But he needed to leave.

So we decided to take the loss and just purchase a 1 way ticket on Ethiopian. We were able to book the flight but no option to pay online. Only option was in person at a ticketing office. No problem he’s already at the airport. BUT they completely refused on credit card or debit payment. Ant insisted on cash. But it had to be USD. Non of their ATMs give USD and a quick search shows that it’s actually pretty hard to get. Then they also refused to accept payment in their currency ETB. I’m confused as how we are somewhat in a cashless world, it’s almost impossible to get USD in your airport and you refuse POS but insist on USD payment. They said the flight was booked 6 hours before departure so they couldn’t accept the credit card payment online. But refusing it in person too? You would think if someone has the means to pay it upfront it wouldn’t be an issue.

Wizz Air Malta W46322 diverted to Rome due to Malpensa strike, 10-hour delay, no food or drinks. Can I claim EU261?

I was supposed to be on Wizz Air Malta flight W46322 from Palma de Mallorca to Milan Malpensa on 4 July 22:25.

The flight was supposed to arrive at 00:10 in Malpensa, but because of the strike affecting Malpensa MXP, the aircraft was diverted to Rome FCO before take off. Then, the take off itself was delayed to 00:23 5 July.

After landing in Rome at 01:36, Wizz Air arranged a bus to Milan Malpensa.

We finally arrived at Malpensa at around 10:00 5 July, roughly 10 hours later than scheduled.

During all of this:

- no food vouchers were given,

- no drinks or refreshments were provided,

- no other assistance besides the bus.

Can I still claim the EU261 due to this?

Any advice on the best way to handle the claim would be appreciated.

How long generally to allow for baggage collection with a second flight?

I'm flying from Montreal to Toronto Pearson with Porter, landing at 7:30 pm, then taking a second flight from Pearson to Cardiff with Westjet, taking off at 10:10pm. Have I given myself enough time to collect my suitcase and recheck it (2hrs 40 mins)? 😗

Mind blown after booking flights

Flying from Vancouver to DC, WestJet regular flights are now called "ultra basic" and you can't even bring a carry-on bag.

Second flight is United and the scumbags are charging $200 to pick a seat, lol.

Astounding greed.

A380 economy seat query MUC-BOM

Hi all,
This is my first time traveling in Lufthansa A380 from Munich to Mumbai.
I want to ask if its worth paying 55€ for an economy seat in the upper deck?
Ideally i would like the extra legroom but 135€ seems a bit steep.
Thanks

Flight delayed 24h: Etihad refusing EU261 compensation and ignoring emails. Advice needed.

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice on how to proceed with an EU261 compensation claim against Etihad.

On December 1, 2024, I was scheduled to fly from Munich (MUC) to Bangalore (BLR) with a connecting flight in Abu Dhabi (AUH).

Here is the breakdown of what happened:

The Original Schedule

Dec 1, 2024: Munich (MUC) 21:45 to Abu Dhabi (AUH) 06:35 (Dec 2)

Dec 2, 2024: Abu Dhabi (AUH) 14:40 to Bangalore (BLR) 19:55

What Actually Happened

Dec 1, 2024: I arrived at Munich Airport. Even before they officially informed us about the cancellation, I noticed that none of the passengers' bags were being checked in. Then, we were told the flight was cancelled. This was the exact text they sent:

"As you are aware, Etihad Airways flight EY128 from Munich International Airport (MUC) to Abu Dhabi Zayed International Airport (AUH) on 01 December was delayed due to the inbound aircraft having diverted to Stuttgart International Airport (STR) due to adverse weather conditions in Munich. The revised departure time for your flight will now be 15:40 local time, Munich on 02 December..."

The weather in Munich looked completely fine to me, and no other flights at the airport were cancelled that day. It was only Etihad. However, Etihad rescheduled the flight to the next day.

Dec 2, 2024: Etihad rebooked me for the next day with a revised schedule. However, instead of taking off at the rescheduled time of 15:40, the flight was delayed even further to a 17:50 takeoff. Because of this second delay, I missed my newly rescheduled 03:00 (Dec 3) connecting flight out of Abu Dhabi.

Dec 3, 2024: Because of the missed connection, I had to wait in Abu Dhabi for 13 hours. No accommodation or Lounge was provided to me at the airport. It was a horrendous wait at the airport. I was finally put on the 14:40 flight to Bangalore, landing at 19:55. Ultimately, I arrived at my final destination 24 hours late

Because the journey started in the EU, I filed an EU261 claim using the feedback form on their website. Etihad rejected it using this exact phrasing:

"Meteorological events being beyond our control. In light of this, flight EY128 on 01 December 2024 is not eligible for compensation"

I refuted this because the weather in Munich didn't affect other flights, and they closed my case without providing any actual proof of weather conditions.

Meanwhile, I found out that another passenger on my exact same flight had their claim approved. I have a screenshot of the email Etihad sent them, which explicitly says:

"Thank you for writing to us about your flight EY128 to Abu Dhabi, which was delayed due to technical reason. You have every right to expect punctuality from Etihad Airways, and we are sorry that your flight was not on time. We understand that this may have impacted your travel plans, therefore, in line with the EC261/2004 regulation, we would like to offer you EUR 600. This payment will be made by bank transfer and the amount will reflect in your account within 30 working days."

I sent this proof to Etihad to contest their decision, but they are no longer replying to my emails. I have sent multiple emails, but it is just complete silence from their end.

What is the best next step? Thanks in advance

Norse

Just booked a ticket for my wife and son in October and for some reason didn’t check for reviews. Gatwick to Orlando and they only have 9 days holiday. Have I made a massive mistake that I’m going to regret . I haven’t booked my own ticket yet as I’m going earlier and coming back later but i guess I can’t do anything as the ones I’ve booked are non refundable I guess .

Seeing lots of comments saying the flights don’t happen….

asiana airlines pilot/trading cards?

i will be flying with asiana airlines before they close down/merge. i just found out that some airlines have trading cards. anyone know if asiana do this? google tells me they do but i'm not sure if that's actually correct

i'm also a huge plane nerd/i really like planes and transport in general. would it be weird to ask if i could take a picture with the pilots? i know a lot of people do this on american airlines but never heard of it on asian airlines. i've been flying with asiana for 4 years (which is small compared to others) but it has been memorable for me as it marked my first flight alone

Cheapest way to travel to Asia

I want to travel from Chicago to New Delhi, but the high-ticket prices make it difficult to travel. I want to travel preferably in the summer months, and I was wondering if any of you guys have a way to fight cheaper fares whether that be through cargo planes or normal flights.

Cancelled flight - how to know reason for cancellation

Hi all,
My parents were due to fly JNB to LHR on the 14th May 2026 - BA0054. The flight was cancelled the day before and it was a nightmare to get them rerouted. Eventually they flew JNB - CPT - LHR. They are in their 70s and it was very stressful for them (they were coming for my graduation on the 16th May so there was time pressure)

Because of the last minute cancellation they applied for compensation via BA but were told the flight was cancelled due to “lightning strike checks, with the assigned aircraft taken out of service for repairs after being struck by lightning”. They are not well off financially and the compensation would have helped offset some of their travel costs.
I find this very suspicious as the flight was very empty and I suspect they cancelled it to save jet fuel costs.

Is there anyone that could check the ATC log to see if the cause for cancellation really was lightning strikes on that aircraft?

Thanks very much, any help much appreciated!

Flight booking assistance - YYZ to LYR

I'm going on a trip with some family members and I can't seem to match their exact flight itinerary when searching for a flight. They've already booked their tickets.

Aug 28 - YYZ to LYR, thru KEF and OSL. I can get the YYZ to KEF (20:45), and KEF to OSL (10:45), but I can't find an option to get OSL to LYR at the same time as them. There are two flights that morning, and I can only book the 7am, not the 10am. If I try to book OSL to LYR separately, the 10am flight is available. Booking just YYZ to OSL is $200 more then the whole itinerary to LYR, and then I still have to pay for OSL to LYR, otherwise I would do separate tickets.

Any suggestions?

Cancelled flight, Easyjet refusing compensation

Hi all,

I had my Easyjet flight cancelled from Porto to Manchester and was seeking compensation. However it was refused with the explanation below. It was a 20:50 flight and there were flights running in the airport after this time so surely not an airport wide problem. I recall seeing another Easyjet flight to Bristol being cancelled that night but actually I managed to get a ticket to a Ryanair flight at 20:30 the same day and fly to my destination even earlier. The cancellation was announced around 3 hours before the flight. Any idea how I can push back on this please? Their response was sent from a noreply email address and no further place I can see for complaints either.

Thanks,

> To further explain what happened on the day; one of our supplier at the airport was unable to complete the required tasks within a reasonable time for us to operate your flight safely. Ultimately and in the case of this flight, the delays pushed our crew into their maximum legal operating hours. There are strict industry wide rules on the number of hours our crew are allowed to work. To protect the safety of our customers and crew, these hours cannot be exceeded. We do take reasonable measures to avoid delays and cancellations to our flights by having replacement crews and spare aircraft available in our network. In the circumstances, these options were not possible as the cancellation to your flight was a direct result of Supplier issues.

Am I entitled compensation?

2 months ago I flew with Lufthansa

My return flight from Romania to Munich got cancelled due to weather so they had stopped temporarily in Venice.

We had waited 1 hr at the Venice airport and the weather was all set, the pilot even said that we were going to take off. Then 15 minutes said actually he had ran out of flight hours so everyone has to disembark.

Later, I'm waiting in line for loong time at the Venice airport to get vouchers and employees started telling people that they can apply online and to book their hotels and make the claim. Quite of few people left line, and I had spoken to one of the employees and they told me that it's ok I will be compensated and don't waste time waiting her get a hotel.

So I left, booked a hotel, transportation, and a small meal for the night.

Later the flight is rebooked automatically and I arrive home and immediately put all my receipts together and submit a claim. It took a month and they finallynresponded saying they could give me $20 and didn't specific the issue on why they couldn't give more compensation. I explained in more detail of what happened, the advice given by the Venice airport (lufthansa's employee's) and they backtracked sayint it was due to extradonary circumstances. Which it wasn't it wad due poor planning in staffing. (Booking a pilot on the tail end of his flight hours.)

Now.. am I entittled to compensation? Is there any questions I can answer to help get more info to me I would've just stayed overnight at the airport if I wasn't told false information and I feel extremely angry that I was lied to. Please any advice would be amazing.

Flight: LH1651

Date 5/31/2026

Original Flight, Bucares to Munich, cancelled to Venice.

Rebooked Venice to Munich the next day.

This should be scam Turkish Airlines - "codesharing"

Hey everyone, I'm looking for some advice regarding a codeshare issue. I recently booked a flight to Split directly through Turkish Airlines. I intentionally chose them because I wanted their standard onboard service and meal quality, even though the ticket cost an extra $100 compared to other options.

It turns out the flight is fully operated by Croatia Airlines. There was zero indication or warning anywhere on the booking screen before I completed the purchase that this was a codeshare flight.

Since this critical detail was completely hidden until after payment, I feel misled and want to claim a refund for the price difference. I'm honestly willing to take this to consumer court over the lack of transparency. Has anyone here ever been in a similar situation with a marketing carrier and managed to get a partial refund or compensation? Thanks!

Note: Skyscanner shows details but Turkish Airlines not! I directly bought this ticket through the Turkish Airlines web page....

Skyscanner shows the information

For Turkish Airlines, you need to check the \"details of the travel\" section

Missing baggage with Saudia

Hi

We flew from Milan -> Jeddah -> Singapore with Saudia and our luggage was lost in the transit. SATS has been the point of contact helping us (not Saudia for some reason) but it has been painful. Every time we call the number, it's a call center that constantly claims they are unable to help us since they are just a call center, even when we have more information. We are unable to contact the actual team in Changi at all.

Has anyone gone through this experience? If we physically go to changi, would we be able to talk to a person? Is it possible to actually contact the team and not just a call center?

China PVG Airport | China Eastern

Hi there.

I am planning to travel from Auckland to Sri Lanka with China Eastern Airlines. My itinerary includes an 8-hour transit at Shanghai Pudong (PVG) Airport.

I will be travelling on my Sri Lankan passport, which is due to expire in about one month. I am travelling to Sri Lanka specifically to renew my passport.

Could you please let me know if I will be allowed to board my flights, or if the passport’s remaining validity could cause any issues?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

MORNING FLIGHTS , nyc to Brazil

I have extremely bad insomnia and stomach problems when flying. I'm wondering why there are no flights in the morning from NYC to Sao Paulo, all of them require overnight travel. Why must we get to our destination feeling sleep deprived? Is there no way to get a morning flight? I wouldn't mind paying more money. I don't get it. Why are there no morning flights?

Do stitches require a 'fit to fly' certificate?

My 77 year old mom fell yesterday and hurt her face - mainly her nose. She's luckily well and had to get minor stitches all across her nose and a few in her forehead, as well as is nursing a black eye. She gets her stitches out next Friday, a tiny fracture that they said did not require surgery - and they said she's able to travel by boat in a couple weeks. But they didn't mention anything about flying.

Today my 98 year old auntie (dad's side) was in the ICU for sepsis, and we're worried she might pass.

Do you think my mom would need a fit-to-fly certificate to visit my auntie before Friday? When is the soonest you've flown after stitches? Would an airline likely ask about this depending on how her face looked?

EDIT: by "next Friday" - I mean this upcoming Friday, in 6 days.

EDIT: apologies re:rule 2 - this would be Miami MIA to NYC (LGA) - exact ticket not purchased yet, domestic flight with us citizenship

Can I board a flight with an expired credit card?

Hello. If asked to show the card I paid a flight with, will an expired credit card be sufficient for that? What applies to expired cards in general? Delta, Turkish Airlines, KLM etc.
