How can I get a balance between quality, file size, and render speed?

I just finished a new edit after a year of not doing anything, and I went to find the best render settings. I found what seemed to be the best (best settings, QuickTime animation), and it ended up taking probably 4-8 hrs of total rendering to render a 17-second edit, with the file ending up at 8.2 GB. I can't even watch it without the sound and video not lining up or lagging. I want to be able to have the highest quality edits possible while not having to wait 6 hrs for one to render, and having it as a huge file on my computer that some social media don't even let me upload.

So basically what I'm asking for is what are the best settings to set my project to render out as to keep the best quality possible while keeping file size relatively low, and not having it take years to render. Thx
