Poisoned Perception

Ghosts’ obituaries outweigh dictionaries. Skeletons fracture playgrounds into graveyards.

Chains mistaken for halos stamp roots into concrete. Wildflowers memorize dimensions of vases, forgetting their acres.

Corrupted lenses estrange faces. Glass shatters, bathing pupils in light.

- Off leash (E-collar) trained
- High drive and ball motivated
- Taking commands in and out of drive
- Living with another dog without issue
- Neutered and UTD on vaccines

I’m in Tucson, AZ and am willing to travel for the right arrangement. Feel free to reach out if you’re interested or have any questions

Trained Mal/GSD is ready for a new home

I’ve been training Hans, a 2 year old GSD/Mal mix. He has the drive to participate in sports but lacks the attention span for police work. I am looking for an experienced owner than handle him.

He is:
- House and crate trained
- Good in malls, stores, and large events
- Capable of passing Canine Good Citizen and therapy assessments
- Friendly with strangers, children, and visitors in the home
- Off leash (E-collar) trained
- High drive and ball motivated with a strong bite
- Taking commands in and out of drive with competition level obedience
- Living with another dog without issue

Rehabilitation vs Euthanasia

I recently saw a post about someone rehoming a German Shepherd while concealing the dog’s extensive bite history. It reminded me of experiences I’ve had interacting with shelters and rescues.

Over the years, I’ve rehabilitated euthanasia list German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois. From that, I’ve encountered shelters and rescues that have not been transparent about dogs with documented behavioral issues.

For example, there’s a local rescue that routinely pulls “rescue only” dogs with documented bite histories. They then place those dogs with adopters without evaluating the whether the home is appropriate or if the dogs are safe be adopted.

In one case, they placed a pit bull with a history of killing four other dogs into a home with young children. In another, they placed several dogs into a hoarding situation, where authorities later seized all animals.

While there are other rescues that operate irresponsibly, this one exemplifies poor judgment. These posts provide additional context:

Deciding whether to rehabilitate, rehome, or euthanize a dog is difficult. Whatever decision is made, consider what the right arrangements are, and what risks may arise.

Failing to be transparent about a dog’s history doesn’t solve their problems, it transfers the risk to an unsuspecting adopter, their family, other pets, and the public.

Ultimately, I believe euthanasia should be seriously considered when a dog cannot be safely handled by the majority of households without presenting a reasonable safety risk.
