Did I Get Overcharged By Locksmith?
My girlfriend accidentally locked the door to a guest room in my apartment. I didn’t even know the door had a lock on it! Anyway, it was a simple old lock, but needed a key. A key that the landlord had never given to me and that I never knew I would ever even need. And I promise my landlord does not have a key to that door. ANYWAY...
Her cat was locked in there and it was an emergency, so we called a locksmith. The guy came over, made no attempt to pick the lock, just drilled straight through with a big drill gun, and then charged us $150.
Is this standard? I mean, I HAVE a drill gun. I could have technically done that myself, right? I mean, isn’t the whole locksmith thing that they pick the lock for you?
First time ever dealing with a situation like this. Let me know what you think.
