Is AI overused here?

I went to a summit yesterday, most visuals were AI-generated and there was a massive emphasis on using AI, or being left behind.

Do you think AI is overused here? Would you say strong use of AI puts you off using a product or service here?

Only hiring freelancers who have worked for major studios

Hey! Has anyone else using LinkedIn come across recruiters stating that their client is only interested in hiring freelancers who have worked for major studios?

I've worked for both well-known and smaller studios. My best work and 'challenging the brief' has always come from smaller studios. The amazing work that you see from Buck, Koto etc has entire teams of art directors, producers, storyboard artists and sometimes a few Motion Designers.

It's insane that recruiters judge someone's value as a Motion designer based on a few well-known clients on their website.

It definitely gatekeeps a lot bookings from lesser-known and new freelancers, especially if they're not based near cities like London, NY, Sydney.

What are your thoughts on this? Has it ever stopped you from getting bookings?

Hey,

I got told today in Alpha Mega by a cashier that you’re not allowed to bring shopping from other supermarkets into their stores.

I spent a decent chunk in Alpha Mega too after getting that comment.

Is this an actual rule or what? I’ve never seen it anywhere in the store and just seems a bit pedantic.
