One Trunk Makes 4 Beam, Four Beams Makes One Plank

I intensely dislike how beams work, and that once you have a beam, it's kind of stuck that way, when it's more or less the same material as most other blocks. So what if the beam was its own interchangeable unit of material based on how much space it takes up. You could then turn 3 beams into stairs, or stairs into 3 beams.

It should also be able to be nestled into corners in various ways just like stairs are, with a special case for being able to be placed in the exact center of a block.
