No Spark - 1995 Evinrude E10SELEOE 9.9 hp Outboard Motor
I'm new to outboards so in my research I've immersed myself in the Johnson - Evinrude 1990-2001 Service Manual: https://www.scribd.com/document/325468088/johnson-evinrude-1990-2001-service-manual-pdf
I successfully diagnosed a power pack issue two weeks ago, did the swap and motor was working pretty well. It had a little rough idle at low RPMs, prob could use a carb cleaning but ran well enough. After ~10 hours of boating I have no spark again. Went over the ignition and electrical system outlined in the manual and everything pointing back to the power pack. I recorded my results and the main highlights for anyone to help out.
Is there any way to proper test the power pack with only a peak DVOM meter? I really want to avoid purchasing a Stephens PL-88 load adapter as per the manual, but my curiosity might just have me shell out the $45.
- The new power pack I used was 0586798 - Power Pack,CD2 (586798) I really don't want to shell another $100+
- Anything else I should test, review, explore that I have not listed in my spreadsheet?
- Testing has concluded the power pack is likely the issue, but how could a brand new pack go bad so quickly?
I was sharing a battery with a transom mounted trolling motor. After cranking my engine trying to get it started again and running the trolling motor on high trying to battle the wind home I noticed the wires on the battery were hot. Could I have fried my new power pack?
Here is the link to what I tested and reviewed:
Any info will be appreciated.
