The Last Command - Live at Sweden Rock Festival 2010

The Last Command - Live at Sweden Rock Festival 2010

This song has only been performed live four times. Three of them were during The Last Command tour in 1986, and once here at Sweden Rock in 2010. I’m surprised that this song hasn’t been performed more frequently considering how anthemic it is. Seems like a perfect song for a live setting. Would be a nice one for them to add back into the set for this upcoming tour!

Blackie Lawless statement on Chris Holmes cancer diagnosis

Nice of him to show his support. These two have obviously had bad blood for decades at this point, but I truly hope that they can reconcile their differences and forgive one another. Life is too short to hold a grudge.

What are your thoughts on the 2007-2012 era of W.A.S.P.?

May seem like a long time span, but I feel that these five years all sort of fit under one umbrella for W.A.S.P. To me, this was the last time that they truly felt like a real band. They were still releasing new music on a regular basis and touring extensively through different parts of the world. They hadn’t quite made it to the nostalgia act phase just yet (although the 30 Years Of Thunder tour in 2012 was a bit of a prelude to that). Dominator and Babylon were both solid albums as well which kept things interesting and made it seem like they had a bright future as they headed into the later part of their career.

Unfortunately, Blackie broke his leg pretty badly in 2013 and things haven’t really been the same since. Golgotha was released a few years later which was a great album of course, but aside from that they haven’t done anything too noteworthy. They were touring Europe exclusively for over a decade at this point and it felt that they were starting to lean pretty heavily on the summer festival circuits as well. I look back on the 5 year period of 2007-2012 and wish that they could’ve kept that momentum up because it was a pretty exciting time. Blackie still seemed to care about what he was doing and actually appeared to want to do right by his fanbase.

What are your thoughts on this time period for the band?

The Headless Children is the winner of the Album vs. Album tournament!

It was a close one, but with a vote of 25 to 18, The Headless Children has won the Album vs. Album tournament. Hard to complain about this outcome. The Headless Children is an absolute classic and a fantastic album from top to bottom. I personally would’ve chosen The Crimson Idol over it, but I can’t say the outcome is surprising.

A few final thoughts on the tournament: I tried to make each round matchup as interesting and fair as possible. I went through a few different scenarios before settling on the final bracket matchups, and pretty much every way that I tried to do it, the final outcome was likely to be either The Crimson Idol, The Headless Children, or the self titled. I decided it was best to eliminate one of them right off the bat and that’s why I had The Crimson Idol going up against the self titled in the first round. A few people didn’t agree with that, but I think it was an interesting way to start things. The bottom line with something like this is that the popular albums will always come out on top. I would’ve loved to have seen an album like Still Not Black Enough, or Unholy Terror, or Golgotha win this whole thing, but ultimately none of those albums stood a chance. All in all though, I do think the tournament was fun and it was great to see how people felt about each album.

Thank you all for participating! I hope you enjoyed following this and got your desired outcome. Feel free to leave your final thoughts and any feedback you may have!

Album vs. Album Tournament Round 15: The Crimson Idol vs. The Headless Children (FINAL ROUND)

Yet another very unsurprising victory in round 14. The Headless Children destroyed Dominator with a vote of 27 to 4. Undeniably this was the correct choice, but I still feel that Dominator deserved better. It’s a top tier W.A.S.P. album and could easily be considered amongst their best. That said, it’s tough to defeat an all time classic like The Headless Children.

We’ve made it to the final round. This is the matchup that I’m sure we were all expecting. Two juggernaut W.A.S.P. albums that both have about equal support amongst the fanbase. It’s hard to predict which way this will go, but the outcome will be interesting nonetheless. Comment below with the name of the album you want to see move onto the next round!

How come W.A.S.P. Nation hasn’t said a damn thing about any of the festival appearances that they’ve canceled this summer?

Before I get into it, I just want to say that if the cancellations are actually due to family related issues, then I sincerely wish the best for Blackie and the band and hope for a positive outcome.

That said, the fact that W.A.S.P. Nation hasn’t said a thing about the canceled shows is very bizarre. Family issues are without question a valid reason to cancel festival appearances, but they should at least have the courtesy to let their fans know that they won’t be there. Not saying that they are obligated to go into detail about what the situation is, but at least make a brief statement saying they’re sorry for the cancellation but personal matters have forced them to cancel their appearances. Instead, they just sweep it under the rug and continue to promote their upcoming tour that almost no one seems to care about, while the festivals themselves are left to make the announcement and deal with the cleanup. All most likely because they’re afraid that announcing cancellations will further impact already struggling ticket sales for the tour. I hate to say it, but it comes off as a spineless act of cowardice and further goes to show that Blackie really has no regard for his fanbase very much at all. Add it to the list of odd decisions this band has made of the past decade.

I’m sorry to all of the fans who are impacted by this. You (we) all deserve better from this band that we love and have supported for so many years.

Album vs. Album Tournament Round 14: The Headless Children vs. Dominator

To the surprise of absolutely no one, The Crimson Idol wiped the floor with Unholy Terror by a vote of 26 to 1 and advances on to the final round. Unholy Terror is a great album and it deservingly made it pretty far in the tournament, but there was no way that it could stand up to the masterpiece that is The Crimson Idol.

Round 14 has The Headless Children going up against Dominator to see which one will take on The Crimson Idol in the final round. In all honesty, I feel that this is a very good matchup. Two great albums that touch on similar topics, but at the end of the day, I think we know how this is gonna go. Maybe we’ll have a bit more competition with this one. Comment below with the name of the album you want to see move onto the next round!
