To trim or not to trim?

Hi everyone! I’m very very new to peony growing so be kind to me. I have some peonies in my yard that I decided to move to a sunnier spot. However, I didn’t actually think this through so now I need help troubleshooting.

For background, I live in the burbs of Seattle. These peonies were planted last year after the growing season and have not had a bloom yet. A few days ago I dug them up and moved them to a sunnier spot. Now they are of course looking a bit defeated but I’m keeping them watered and gave them some good compost.

My question is this - should I trim them back now (in May?) or leave them alone and cut them back in the fall as I usually do? Or have I just outright taken away all. Hence of them to survive period?

Thanks for all the help in advance!
