Will they fire people who are on the bench for a long time?

Hi everyone,

I joined Capgemini in October 2025. After the initial training, I was put on the bench in February 2026, and I've been there ever since.

The thing that's worrying me is that I haven't received any shadow tagging opportunities, project interviews, or client calls. It's been completely silent.

I'm trying to upskill while on the bench, but I'm anxious about my future. I've heard different things from different people—some say companies keep employees on the bench for a long time, while others say they may let people go if they remain unallocated.

Has anyone been in a similar situation?

  • How long were you on the bench before getting a project?
  • Is it common to stay on the bench for close to a year?
  • Do companies usually terminate employees after being on the bench for that long, or does it depend on the company's business needs?

I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences.

Thanks in advance!
