Deckbuilding principles

I would like to join an Omens pre-release event but my deckbuilding skills definitely need some training. I would like to be able to make a working deck to play decently at the event without bricking.

Any suggestions on guides/videos/articles with deckbuding principles for a balanced deck?
Rule of thumbs like: how many cards per color/attack/defense/cost/type, how many sinergies, which type of cards to focus in based on the hero’s class and so on…

Up until now I’ve survived by tweaking existing lists but I feel I’m not learning and I won’t help me when I’m alone with my eight packs.

Is there a way to tell normal decks from full art by the package?

I have to split the gamefound haul i just received among the purchase group and I would like to do that without opening the decks…

Edit:
Thanks to the fine folks in the comments I have discovered that:
1- “Full art” decks purchased as add-ons have a white label marking them as “Full art”
2- Decks from the stretch goals are not labeled in any way so you can’t tell the guaranteed full art from the guaranteed gigantic.
