im 17, studying in an art school, i cant find a way of rendering that works for textures no matter what techniques i try, i am only able to do it traditionally

im looking for advice and criticism to help me find a way to settle on a style as every time i try drawing i switch to something, dislike it, and go back to the easiest way - with and with only the lasso tool fill

all 9 drawings are examples of what I've tried,

the last 2 are examples for how much better i do traditionally and how flexible i can be with dofferent materials

I have this (still unnamed) character that changes shape as emotion builds up in her, mostly anger and sadness, im struggling with her enraged design, aiming for a bulky mix between cat and bear and trying to make the design scary.

Does her current design work for that?
