My wife wants me to convert her bicycle from a 3x8 to a 1x8 because she hates having to shift both front and rear.

I have an old Sram Apex crankset and a Sram NX Eagle 12 speed chain.

Is this all I have to do?

1. Remove the front derailleur, crankset and bottom bracket.
2. Put in a new Sram bottom bracket and the Apex crankset

Which bottom bracket do I need exactly? Is the chain gonna be compatible with the rear chainrings?
