I recently picked up a new to me MX-5 NBFL 1.8 Sport.

The car feels good to drive but I can hear this noise when braking, the car brakes evenly and everything seems to be in order, there are no symptoms.

I thought it might be PPF, but it looks good. My mechanic says it is the transmission which doesn't really make too much sense to me since it is only and explicitly heard while breaking lightly, when I am at speed and brake harder the noise is absent, but it might be just masked by road noise.

Any help and advice is apreciated!
