What other media do you think most prominently influenced Scarlet Hollow?

SH is absolutely one of the most impressive visual novels I've ever played, and I've easily put an absurd amount of hours into it already, but something I always find fascinating is what other works, whether literature, movies, TV, music, etc. influenced the direction or various aspects of that story, both in terms of finding more things to check out after the fact, but also just because seeing how those influences shape the creation itself can give a really fascinating look at the creative process behind it.

As there is not currently a publicly available list of what influenced writers Abby Howard and Tony Howard-Arias, I can only really speculate based on similarities I see, but I think among the most obvious from a first glance are Disco Elysium (the trait and dialogue system, strike storyline, and Tabitha filling a similar gameplay role to Kim) and either Gravity Falls or Twin Peaks (similar small town mystery, narrative structure, and duality of quirky character drama and abject horror), though I do have a few more ideas, even if kinda remote and not super likely.

A few things I thought initially might be influences were the books Blackwater and the Elementals (both by Michael McDowell) and Revelator (by Daryl Gregory), as all three are a similar kind of southern gothic cosmic/folk horror, and SH does have a lot in common with all three narratively and tonally, even if the likelihood of them being a direct influence is, at best, a remote guess. Revelator, for example, focuses on a woman (named Stella, no less) returning home to a dying town in the Appalachian mountains for the funeral of her aunt and being forced to reckon with her family and the god they serve and its connection to her specifically. I have no means to know if either of the two writers have read or heard of any of these books, much less if they influenced Scarlet Hollow in its writing, but these workd share enough similarities that I wouldn't be surprised.

Anyways, if you all have any thoughts on other works in any medium that impacted the writing of SH, or if the devs have ever confirmed any outright, I would love to hear them. Like I said, this kind of thing fascinates the hell out of me as a way to understand the way certain parts of the game were created.
