Rank Possible Romantic Endings

How do you think your romances will fare by the end of the game? And who has it best and worst?

I love my >!Madness!!<Oscar romance scene, but holy shit, I don’t trust that’ll end well. True love’s kiss barely fucking works! Regular Oscar should be fine… I think…

Reesemancers’ cards are stacked against y’all as fuck. No matter the variant.

I don’t see how my relationship with Wayne will work out—because even though I trust his words enough to be the truth, I don’t see our objectives aligning any more than not wanting anyone trapped in the Scarlet estate again, especially with >!Breakdown!!<Tabitha being someone to put better stock in.

Stella seems to always love Tabitha more than us.

We’ll have to see about Avery after EP 5 >!because even if they live, they lost the one Scarlet Hollow resident that really liked and trusted them in most world states. Or they could just be dead depending on whether Doctor Kelly is available…!<

>!Magical Girl!!<Kaneeka, >!especially with the insight that this leads to the best ending,!< is probably our best girl >!if she learns to wield her powers without harm or sacrifice to herself.!<

I’m fucking terrified of >!Carmilla’s!< romance though. I’m about to be gaslighted, gate-kept, and girl-bossed into oblivion.

I have tried so hard to flirt with Doctor Kelly that tbh I will be satisfied if we can finally just go on a date. The rest doesn’t matter to me.

Devs let me romance Franklin in a future update please :)

The Headless Horseman of Scarlet Hollow (Matricide Ver.)

CW: blood, gore

Copy-pasting a couple thoughts I had while drawing:

I wanted to go with a full moon, but it turns out the moon phase on Oct 27, 2022 was a waxing crescent, so I made a bit of a compromise, haha.

Reese is holding onto/bearing his mom on his back since he's still channeling her in so many ways, even when he's chomped her. And Dr Kelly's smile of resignation really stuck with me when I first witnessed the matricide route,,,

When I was planning the piece, I initially figured she was kinda "warning" the pov audience, like "look what my son did to me, run for your life if you value it." But given that Matricide directly involves a "betrayal" of sorts, it could also be a "look what you've done" sort of vibe... Red text Dr Kelly when-

Some rare scenes that I don't know how to get anymore

One is Janey not being missing and the second is Tabitha pulling up to Stella's with Franklin.

Best outcome of the Keen Eye trait save?

I've been conflicted on this one. In one of them, Julius sacrifices himself for the baby, another has Avery and Julius sacrifice themselves together, and the last one has Julius kill the baby himself.

What are the stages of forgetfulness with the Episode 5 recap?

I got this run where I was romancing Kaneeka, I can remember her dialogue but her name is still labeled as unknown

Has it been explained how…

>!the Entity is able to move around town?!< I know it says that Scarlet Hollow is enough of a prison, considering the amount of people that have died while trying to escape the curse. It’s just that during Tabitha’s confrontation scene, she says Wayne is a mistake. Not her mistake, but one that will never happen again.

The curse is at its most vulnerable point with three powers vying for their own resolution in the wake of Pearlanne’s passing, and Wayne is in a position to be his own advocate in this because of his newfound freedom.

So what was the mistake—>!that Wayne found the secret prison at all? That Pearlanne killed him and he became the new host for the Entity? That Wayne escaped from said prison and the Estate, but how so? With the aid of someone like Sybil, a fluke in the ritual process, or on their own?!<

>!But if it was Sybil, then why didn’t he just use that weird magical word written into the wall whenever he visited her? Unless those words can only be utilized in her mind palace dimension.!< Okay… maybe not Sybil then, but I wonder why he visited her at the General Store so frequently. I mean we understand her side of their relationship much more than his—she called him a “grifter”, “someone who will eventually pass” because she was about to eat him for his power.

It’s kinda funny how Sybil & Tabitha frame Wayne’s existence to us to keep his true nature and their true motivations hidden. It’s even funnier in runs where you do somehow learn to trust him and tell them, and they start stammering at us like we are crazy idiot for doing so.

How would you rank each climax in terms of importance to the plot?

I'll lay each of them out here so you don't have to remember.

Episode 1: In the woods, you, Stella and Duke are ambushed by Ditchlings. You have to choose between Duke and Stella's dog, Gretchen. If Gretchen gets taken, she is put down by Stella (or potentially you, with a high enough relationship). The consequence is, unless you talk to the dog militia or Tabitha about her being missing, you won't be able to find her in Episode 4. Duke being alive automatically makes Franklin avoid getting shot by Julius once he enters the basement in Episode 5. If you try to kill the baby, Julius and Franklin get in a shootout, killing them both. Julius will also die by Duke's hand if Bo doesn't make it.

If Duke dies, the police gets involved unless you avoid them with Street Smart. This time, unless you go with Avery to the farms, Franklin gets shot when going down the basement. He can't pick up his gun in this state, so when you try to kill the baby, Avery takes a bullet for you.

If you have Powerful Build, you can save both Gretchen and Duke, and also Bertie if you want.

Episode 2: In the Shaw mine collapse, you need to choose between taking Rosalina with you or trying to get Becka and Alexis out. If you take only Rosalina, the latter two are stuck down there. She also kind of hates you. Also, the strike will be larger. If Rosalina isn't injured, there's a chance for Oscar to investigate the seal in the library if you also saved it from the ghost.

If you take Becka and Alexis with you, Rosalina's foot will get clipped by the rocks. This has the effect of Oscar being worried for her safety, so he either doesn't check out the seal in his basement in Episode 5, or straight up goes to leave town if the doctor isn't alive.

You can save Alexis and Becka without needing to sacrifice Rosalina's foot if you have Street Smart. This also makes it so the cops don't get involved.

Episode 3: You get put on trial by Charles Shaw Junior, the vengeful spirit roaming in the town hall. To stop him, you have to give your years to him. If you do, ghost makes you old, which causes you to be able to miss a lot of stuff, like not being able to go to every location in Episode 4, or Enoch's study in Episode 5. It does let you get a check-up from Doctor Kelly, if you're into that. Getting rid of the ghost allows for Oscar to investigate the seal, but only if Rosalina isn't injured.

If you refuse, the ghost stays in the library, and it will become closed down. This causes Oscar, Rosalina and Pixel to stay at the Old Maxwell Place. This makes him either go into the library in Episode 5, or straight up leave town if Rosalina is injured and the doctor's K.I.A.

If Tabitha is with you during the ghost hunt, and you have a particularly good relationship with you, she'll take the burden and sacrifice HER years instead. For the time being, this only makes her old.
With Book Smart, you can gaslight the ghost to death, saving the library without sacrifice.

In Episode 4, Reese turns into a monster, and plans to kill his own mother. If you let him do this, he'll leave you with yet another bread crumb for the police to convict you with. Also, Kelly's dead, so there's no one left to treat Rosalina if she is injured, OR Franklin for his bullet hole. Reese can also show up in Episode 5, like when he frees you from the cop car (by eating Derekson). Also, it's kind of required for his romance without a trait save.
If you help Kelly subdue Reese, both of them stay alive, but Reese hates you now. That's kind of it.

If you call Tabitha before this decision, she'll show up and BLAST Reese in the face with her shotgun. This allows the opportunity to burn him alive, killing him.

If you have Hot, you can charm Reese into not killing his own mother. Also, he will show up in the woods if you go on your own or with Stella to the farms (or when you go to Tabitha). He'll try to stop you if you intend to go to Tabitha.

In Episode 5, Bo is in a precarious situation, as there is something attached to him: Joseph, the pumpkin baby hybrid provided by the witch. AKA, Julius' son. You encounter it in a basement. Firstly, you can wait and let Bo die, bringing the baby into the world. Second, you can try to kill it, which causes either Franklin or Avery to get shot depending on if Frank got shot before this decision. Julius dies no matter what, by his own hand or Frank's. If Avery gets shot, you can either let him die, or use HIM as the baby's host.

With Keen Eye, you can get 3 other outcomes: Julius can sacrifice himself for the baby to be born, Avery and Julius can team up (and potentially live) to nurture the baby, or Julius can realise he doesn't NEED a son, and kills it himself.

Also in Episode 5, there's the whole Kaneeka thing. If you let her be absorbed, Carmilla will replace her. This will also retcon every mention of Kaneeka from this point forward. If you save her, Sybil is gone, and will not be able to use her power anymore.

With Mystical, you can stop Sybil's illusion. From here, you can either get a free third trait (as long as it isn't Talk to Animals), get Tabitha's or your own years back if they were sacrificed, or have Kaneeka absorb Sybil, granting her the same power as her mother.

My fingers are dead.

Chapter 5 felt incredibly short to me

Hi, to be clear this is not a complaint, I made the choices I made.

Chapter 5 Spoilers

>!Chapter 5 seemed really short from my perspective, and I'm sure this is down to a number of factors because I know how big it is. !<

>!I'm Mystical, Keen Eye and I got aged by Charlie. Went to see my Romance Oscar at the library and tried to convince him to stop after briefly exploring the Hidden Wing and telling Wayne I trust him, tried to go meet with the Witch, got arrested, went to the farm, saw Reese murder a cop, convinced Julius to take the baby, had the Witch vision and cut the thread to give Kaneeka the power after feeling quite agonised by the choice, and woke up by the church?!<

I really get the sense that I missed A LOT. I don't know if that's true from a time perspective or a different paths one, but I just had this feeling of a huge world moving behind that I wasn't seeing. I didn't see Tabitha even once, which I assume you probably can be with her like in previous chapters. It's an interesting feeling. I'm doing a very specific run with a friend where we make pretty consistent choices to protect the vulnerable and following something of a code of agency and accountability, and I feel like when the game finishes I'll probably do a very different playthrough. I guess I'm just gassing up the writers XD

Tabitha Breakdown at the Farm?

I was reading the Episode 5 devlog, and I found this comment. I'm one of those players that loves to dissect a game, and after a few initial playthroughs in which I played by the rules, I've done about 12 different runs with the mod that allows you to check the relationship values, and have reloaded and tried all of the available options during key scenes more than once just to see what happens, but I haven't seen this variation of Tabitha's breakdown happen even once (or I just haven't identified it as such). Does anyone know how to get to that world state? The curiosity is killing me!

How to not get brainwashed by Carmilla w/o Mystic?

I could have sworn I was able to throw away Sybil's tea during the reading with Streetsmart? I remember Streetsmart allowed me to throw the tea to the plant and pretend to drink it, then I was also able to accuse Sybil of being the cat. It was weeks ago though and I didn't keep the save file.

In this run I didn't finish the tea in the diner and I even stopped showering but everytime I get to the reading I'm still forced to drink the tea and can't accuse Sybil.

I thought atleast w/o showering I wouldn't get brainwashed by Carmilla, I could have sworn I could get to this scene and refuse her or agree w/ Tabitha that she's gross or accuse her of pretending to be Kaneeka but now I'm still forced into a romance? Any idea what I might be doing wrong?

EDIT:
I only learned from the comments that going to church had an effect on remembering Neeks so I thought I'd clarify here that in this run I did go to church. I always go to church coz Pastor Dan's ominous background piano is one of my faves in the soundtrack lol

How do I get Tabitha to be on board with sacrificing Kaneeka?

Hi! I’ve played 4 runs so far, and I went to the farms with Tabitha in 2 of them, one with impasse and the other with breakdown. From how people talked about it I assumed breakdown Tabitha would want Kaneeka to sacrifice herself, but she actually wanted to save her and got kinda mad when in one of my saves I took Sybil’s deal to restore her youth. Any idea how to get her to agree to the sacrifice? In this specific run I’m using TTA/Mystical, and I have a poor relationship with Kaneeka so she wants to sacrifice herself. I could also start another gameplay altogether, it doesn’t have to be this one (so I could also not pick Mystical), but I want to know what I’m doing wrong before I accidentally do it again

The mine collapse sequence is the easiest major choice in the game

Unless it's your first playthrough, there's no reason to not get Becka and Alexis to safety. Sure, Rosalina loses her foot, but not only is that way more manageable than life-long trauma for all 3 teens (if Becka and Alexis even live through this), but Rosalina also doesn't relentlessly hate on you, AND the cops will be less suspicious.

Watch my mc die in the final chapter because Rosalina could have saved me if she wasn't injured

Favorite song in the scarlet hollow OST?

Recently made a post asking about your favorite scenes and one of the comments got me thinking... what’s everyone's favorite track in the game?

for me, like i mentioned in a comment before, it's a feud sown with blood. it just feels so hopeless, chaotic, and weirdly comforting

reese's theme... honestly not much to say, it's just really... sexy

the scarlet hollow theme, but specifically when wayne plays it in ch 5 in the forbidden wing... it feels so nostalgic

and honorable mention to pastor daniel's theme, it fits his weird vibe way too well lol

what about you guys?
