Any advice for someone in Quebec ?
I (F28) want to get a reduction and RAMQ usually pays for it, although I have a problem, which is my doctor wants me to get on some GLP-1 type medication for weight loss to see if it reduces the size first, which i think is counter intuitive since ill probably gain the weight back after I stop it.
(context: I have gained a lot of weight due to an undiagnosed condition in these past years, although i have always been around 34E before I gained the weight and now Im around 38E but I wear 40DD bc my breast are so dense its very heavy and the bigger bands distribute the weight better)
I wanted to ask :
- is there specific surgeons that you would recommend? Did you have a choice of who was going to do your surgery?
- did any of you have to get on weight loss medication before you got your doctors referral to a surgeon?
- for those who did get it done through RAMQ, did you have the opportunity to ask to get the spence tail removed and give them input on what you wanted your results to look like (overall shape, nipple positioning, etc) ? How did it go for the process/did the results come out well?
- If you went private did your insurance give you grief? Did they cover it partially? How did that work/what was the process like for the claim or however that works ?
Im aware that at my size and with the way my nipples behave I will need an anchor stitch, Im afraid of the body dysmorphia I will have afterwards and how my bf will react if he sees them throughout the healing process (we live together).
My aunt got hers done around 30 yo and she swears it was one of the best things she ever did for herself and liked her results but this still doesn’t ease my mind considering how much of a coin flip it is to find a considerate healthcare professional.
