Fedex driver almost run over my son
Dear all,
Today a parent's worst nightmare almost came true.
I'm not looking for public judgment but I'm asking what is the best way to constructively address this situation with meaningful corrective actions implemented in response.
I don't know who to contact but I hope there is some team at FedEx who is dealing with near misses and is genuinely interested in learning more about such close calls.
I'm not interested to speak with customer service.
I don't know whether I should contact local authorities either to alert them to unsafe driver.
My goal is to not ignore a fact there is an unsafe driver at FedEx who might kill someone's child.
The situation is as follows that got captured by two security cameras. I'm happy to share the footage with whoever has authority to implement corrective action at FedEx.
My son is blowing grass clippings standing stationary in the middle of the driveway. He is positioned roughly 100ft from driveway entrance, so you're well onto my property at this point.
I see the FedEx truck backing up at high speed, there were no beeps or any other signals to alert anyone. Drivers backs up much faster that I usually drive in front first.
When I realize he doesn't see my son I run off yelling at which point the driver stops rapidly missing my son by roughly 6ft.
I try to later engage the driver saying he drives too fast and he just looks at me, doesn't say anything, drops off packages and drives off.
I don't know what I expected from him but definitely some reaction where he realizes he almost run over a child. I got zero reaction from him hence I'm concerned even more.
This is really frustrating. There are backup cameras, obstacle avoidance alerts. There are so many things FedEx could do, maybe even have Ai do something useful and have some person, pet, obstacle recognition emergency braking.
If anyone has any suggestions on how address this, I'd appreciate constructive feedback.
Thank you.
