Built a free live map of every Bada Mangal bhandara in Lucknow - would love feedback from fellow Lucknowites
Hi everyone 👋
I'm a software engineer from Lucknow and the last few weeks I've been building a side project for this Bada Mangal season, the rare 8-Tuesday cycle in 2026. Attached is the screenshot of the 3rd Bada Mangal bhandaras listed on the map live.
Sharing it here because if it's useful to anyone in this sub, that's the point of building it.
What it is
https://badamangal.com - a free live map of every Bada Mangal bhandara happening across Lucknow. Built end-to-end by me, no team behind it.
You can:
- See the nearest bhandara to you on a city-wide map
- Get directions in one tap
- Check timings and prasad menus
- See live photos from people who walked past a bhandara in the last 8 hours
Where it stands right now
- 100+ bhandaras listed across the city (Aliganj, Indira Nagar, Gomti Nagar, Hazratganj, Rajajipuram, Telibagh, Jankipuram, Vikas Nagar, and every other locality I could reach)
- 60+ live photos every Tuesday from devotees and walkers, sent in via WhatsApp groups
- Hindi and English toggle
Why it's free and what's NOT on it
No ads. No signup. No money. No "premium plan". Just a pure seva project, built solo because I couldn't find a single source of truth for "which bhandara is closest to me right now and is the prasad still being served".
Things I'd love help with
- If you walk past a bhandara that's not on the map, snap a photo from the site, it goes live in under a minute
- Bugs, weird UX, broken Hindi text, wrong addresses, please call them out
- Bhandaras your family or friends are organising that we don't have listed
- Honest feedback on the design, the language mix, anything that feels off
