Kidnapped babies

My siblings and I feel like we are going absolutely crazy, Google and ChatGPT won’t get it right! A movie where a woman gives birth to either one baby or twins (not in a hospital, possibly a home?) and hears the cries, then she passes out. When she awakens the nurse tells her that the baby (or one of the babies) was stillborn and did not make it, but the mother argues that she heard it crying but ultimately she doesn’t leave with the baby that was “stillborn”. At the end of the movie there is a scene where a lot of kids (possibly all girls?) were dressed in white gowns coming down stairs from the back of a house and there was something to do with a big tree. That’s about all I remember, it was grainy and similar cinematic style and quality to Flowers in the Attic, so maybe 70’s or 80’s. We probably watched it about over 15 years ago, maybe 20.
